Delos
Delos is unique: a tiny uninhabited island that is entirely an open-air archaeological site. Birthplace of Apollo and Artemis in Greek mythology, it was once the most important religious and commercial centre in the ancient Mediterranean. The ruins are extraordinary — temples, a theatre, marble lions, ancient houses with intact mosaics. You can only visit by day-trip from Mykonos or Paros; no overnight stays are permitted.
