Lefkada
Lefkada is technically connected to the mainland by a causeway, making it the only Greek island accessible by car. This is both its advantage (easy to reach, no ferry stress) and disadvantage (loses some island magic). The west coast beaches — Porto Katsiki and Egremni — are consistently ranked among Europe's most beautiful, with turquoise water and dramatic white cliffs.

The catch
West coast beaches require long drives down steep, narrow roads. Lefkada Town itself is not particularly attractive.
Hidden gem
Take the boat to nearby Meganisi for an afternoon — five sleepy villages, no tourists, the Ionian as it used to be.
